Themed ‘Funky Cointreau Medina’, Tippling Club welcomes award-winning international bartender, Amir Javaid, from John Anthony Bar in Hong Kong



Award-winning restaurant-bar, Tippling Club, unveils the second edition of its tattoo-themed event – ‘Singapore Drink’. Themed ‘Funky Cointreau Medina’, this series will see Joe Wang from 8 Volts tattoo studio competing against Ocean (Bao Zi) from Ocean Studios tattoo studio. Both of them will be doing interpretations of early 90s-style hip-hop themed tattoo designs that Chef-owner, Ryan Clift, created.

The event will feature a light-hearted cocktail competition between Tippling Club and John Anthony Bar in Hong Kong, a specialist gin bar which approaches cocktails with sustainability, implementing Hong Kong’s first ever zero waste program. John Anthony Bar will feature award-winning international bartender, Amir Javaid. He started his career in Manchester and has worked in the UK, Thailand and his current home, Hong Kong. A number of high profile competition wins landed him the role as brand ambassador for Martin Miller’s gin, training bartenders throughout the city before eventually relocating to Hong Kong in 2017


Having worked alongside Antonio Lai at Michelin Star VEA, Amir is now the bar manager at John Anthony. Amir’s approach to sustainability has seen him win awards with Cointreau and Time Out magazine for his consistently creative cocktails. He also used to work alongside Andrew Loudon, Head Bartender in Tippling Club at a bar called Socio Rehab in Manchester.

In line with the theme, Tippling Club and John Anthony Bar will present a refreshing twist on three classic ‘hip-hop’ inspired drinks each. Both bartenders will be on rotating shifts on an hourly basis throughout the day. Get ready for a day of good food and eclectic drinks, good company with bright shirts and classic burlesque music.

Tipping Club’s second Singapore Drink & Tattoo Event will take place on Sunday, 1 September 2019.
