Proven in Sweat, Powered by Spirit: Inside the Community Collaborations of BYD Singapore International Marathon 2026

With less than two months remaining before the city’s streets come alive for race weekend, the BYD Singapore International Marathon 2026 presented by adidas (SGIM26) has unveiled an ambitious, community-first initiative celebrating local culture and runner grit. Moving far beyond the traditional confines of a weekend sporting competition, SGIM26 is weaving its presence into everyday Singapore life through a curated suite of limited-edition merchandise, lifestyle gear, and retail partnerships that champion the event’s enduring ethos: “Proven in Sweat. Powered by Spirit.”

First staged as a competitive road race in 1982, the event stands as the country’s premier national marathon and holds the historic distinction of being Southeast Asia’s first World Athletics Gold Label road race, an accolade earned back in 2012. Having welcomed more than 55,000 runners from over 80 nations in 2025 alone, the marathon embarks on a bold new chapter in 2026, welcoming BYD as title sponsor and adidas as its first-ever presenting sponsor. To commemorate this milestone, the race organizers are turning the spotlight inward, honoring the unique daily rituals, heritage, and multi-generational stories of Singapore’s own running fraternity.

Southeast Asia’s Debut Race Capsule: The adidas SGIM26 Collection

At the forefront of these commemorative launches is Presenting Sponsor adidas, which has made Singapore the very first market in Southeast Asia to introduce a dedicated, limited-edition full race capsule collection.

Rather than relying on generic performance gear, the SGIM26 capsule draws direct inspiration from the lived experiences and local quirks of Singapore runners. The apparel and footwear reflect the quiet dedication of pre-dawn training sessions under tropical skies, humid coastal tempos, and the time-honored post-workout ritual of catching up over a cup of traditional kopi.

The aesthetic palette translates Singapore’s urban landscape and cultural heritage into wearable design:

  • Heritage Porcelain Cream: Evoking the warm cream tones of traditional kopitiam porcelain coffee cups.
  • Terracotta Red: Nodding to the deep red brick-tiled roofs that crown Singapore’s historic conservation shophouses.
  • Lush Canopy Greens: Capturing the verdant foliage that defines the city’s park connectors and Garden City identity.
  • Earthy Brown Accents: Honoring well-trodden gravel tracks, reservoir paths, and pavement routes familiar to weekend long-run warriors.

Playful, distinctly local colloquialisms ground the collection, such as “Run Lah!” emblazoned across high-performance training tops and “Singapore” inscribed across the midsole of the footwear line.

At the performance core of the capsule is the award-winning Adizero EVO SL running shoe, engineered with lightweight ADIZERO foam technology for optimal kinetic energy return. The accompanying men’s and women’s apparel line integrates adidas’ CLIMACOOL ventilation to manage moisture in severe tropical heat, supported by CLIMA365 fabric construction to ensure distraction-free comfort over 42.195 kilometers.

Performance Eyewear and Everyday Hydration: Local Brand Collaborations

The spirit of collaboration extends across homegrown Singaporean brands and long-time race partners, ensuring athletes and fans can engage with the marathon’s legacy across lifestyle touchpoints:

  • Sunday Shades “Finisher Flare” (S$59): Singapore-based performance eyewear label and Official Sunglasses Sponsor Sunday Shades has created the limited-edition Finisher Flare. Crafted specifically for endurance runners, the frames feature a deep-blue matte rubberized texture, stamped with “Proven in Sweat” along one temple and “Powered by Spirit” along the other. Built with polarized lenses to eliminate tropical glare, UV400 radiation protection, and the brand’s proprietary slip-resistant FitFlow ergonomics, the sunglasses sport red-to-gold mirrored lenses reminiscent of a race-morning sunrise over the skyline.
  • 100PLUS ACTIVE Commemorative Cans: As the Official Hydration Partner, 100PLUS has rolled out specially designed 100PLUS ACTIVE cans in retail stores islandwide. Showcasing the official marathon silhouette and motto, the commemorative cans underscore the brand’s ongoing commitment to fueling runners through grueling training blocks, course hydration stations, and post-race electrolyte recovery.
  • Sunpride Cavendish Bananas: In a fun, ubiquitous nod to race nutrition, Official Banana partner Sunpride is releasing 250,000 limited-edition SGIM26 stickers featuring the official lion emblem and motto. Distributed across major supermarkets—including Sheng Siong, Giant, and Isetan—the fruit brings marathon awareness straight into neighborhood kitchens and recovery pantries.

Leon Lai, CEO of SG International Marathon Pte Ltd, emphasized that these community partnerships serve to validate the everyday commitment of local runners: “From designs inspired by familiar sights across Singapore to products celebrating the dedication of runners, these collaborations lend a distinctly local touch to this year’s event. We hope they give runners something meaningful to take away from the experience, beyond the memories of crossing the finish line.”

25,500 Runners Unite: A Course for Every Generation

The local enthusiasm for SGIM26 is mirrored in record registration numbers. Race organizers confirmed that entries for both the marquee BYD Marathon (42.195km) and the adidas Half Marathon (21.1km) have officially closed after reaching a combined sell-out cap of 25,500 runners. Remaining slots across other categories continue to fill rapidly.

What makes this year’s participant roster truly remarkable is its extraordinary demographic breadth, spanning runners aged 15 to 89 years old.

Among the youngest competitors taking on a major endurance milestone is 15-year-old Kaelyn Ng, who will tackle her maiden 21.1km half marathon alongside her father. Having picked up regular Sunday morning runs with him at age 12, Ng managed her endurance training while concurrently preparing for her national O-Level examinations. “I was hesitant about signing up for the half marathon and was planning on going for the 10km race instead, but my dad encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone,” Ng shared. “While I’m nervous about pacing myself throughout the race, I am also excited as this is the longest race I have ever done, and it will definitely be a challenging but meaningful experience for me!”

At the opposite end of the life spectrum stands 69-year-old veteran Jen Lim, for whom SGIM26 represents his 40th full marathon. Having completed his first competitive 42km race in Singapore over three decades ago in 1992 at age 35, Lim exemplifies the lifelong companionship of distance running. “I found running to be a sport that I can grow old with,” Lim reflected. “For me, it is now a joy to be able to run daily and monthly and at a marathon. It may be my last, but it’s my first BYD Marathon! I hope to keep running if health permits. It is a joy to stand at the start line and say I got this far, ‘Let’s do it!'”

The Heart of Singapore’s Sporting Calendar

As race day approaches, the BYD Singapore International Marathon 2026 continues to demonstrate why it remains the heartbeat of Singapore’s running calendar. By fusing technical athletic innovation with cultural heritage and personal storytelling, SGIM26 honors the simple, unifying truth that long-distance running is defined by the sweat poured into training long before runners ever step onto the starting mat.

Whether running personal bests, cheering from the sidelines, or lacing up commemorative Adizero kicks on weekend morning loops, runners across Singapore are proving that spirit and grit remain the city’s finest export.
