Artisan Selections is Singapore’s first speciality online store that retails a unique selection of fine foods, produce and wine from Australia. Launched in November 2017, Artisan Selections was conceived by five well-travelled food lovers from Australia and Singapore, who wanted to share their passion for artisanal food with a global audience. Working closely with Austrade – Australian Trade and Investment Commission – Artisan Selections seeks to empower Australian small-batch producers by helping them sell their products to markets outside of their home country. The platform allows visitors from over nine cities including Singapore, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Johor Bahru, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Taipei and Tokyo, to purchase craft produce and spirits without having to travel to Australia.

“At Artisan Selections, we place a strong focus on the quality of our product,” says Richard Leong, Chief Executive Officer of Artisan Selections. “We are also focused on empowering artisans in Australia who are still very much in touch with their traditional methods to help them be export- ready and have the ability to share their products with the rest of the world.”
A popular holiday destination for Asian tourists, Australia is the sixth largest country in the world and a major exporter of agricultural products and commodities like wheat and meat. The country boasts rich variations in landscape and climate that are pivotal in the growth of major food-related industries. For example, South Australia is the nation’s fourth largest state and spans 983,482 sq km in size – a sprawling landscape that allows for an abundance of diverse micro-climates and distinct regions. This allows the artisans to grow and produce an extraordinary range of food and wine that are highly sought after by tourists who visit Australia.

“Where most online purveyors are expert generalists and cater to huge swathes of the population, we’re very particular about the methods of the artisans and the provenance of the produce,” says Adrian Mah, Chief Marketing Officer of Artisan Selections. “We believe Singapore is the perfect place to launch our store, given the growing interest in artisanal produce here.”
The Artisan Selections team intends to help bridge the gap between quality produce and overseas markets, through their e-commerce platform as they noticed a growing demographic of discerning food lovers in Singapore and Asia who appreciate Australian produce. In doing so, the Artisan Selections team empowers these producers who are fiercely passionate on delivering the best quality produce with a strong provenance to markets outside their local region.
Apart from their commitment to scouring Australia to source the best produce. Adrian and Richard also take pride in ensuring the freshest possible products are delivered to their customers and together with Mitsui Global Logistics, a company that handles international transportation and logistics, have created an efficient logistics framework to expedite all online orders. This delivery model reduces the time between supplier and consumer, averaging between four and seven days from source – Australia – to Singapore.
