Say It, Print It, Colour It: myFirst Launches the Insta magiBox Voice-Powered AI Sticker Printer for Kids

As artificial intelligence rapidly permeates consumer technology, parents often find themselves navigating a delicate balance: fostering tech literacy for their children while shielding them from passive screen addiction and unfiltered online content. Addressing this modern challenge with a hands-on, creative solution, homegrown Singapore tech brand myFirst has officially debuted the Insta magiBox—a voice-activated AI sticker printer designed to turn children’s spoken imaginations into physical art they can touch, colour, and share.

Founded in 2017, myFirst has built a global reputation across more than 36 countries for creating kid-safe digital ecosystems, ranging from smartwatches and cameras to 3D pens. With the launch of the Insta magiBox, the brand reimagines generative AI not as a solitary, screen-bound activity, but as an interactive catalyst for real-world tactile creativity.

From Spoken Words to Physical Stickers

The Insta magiBox operates on a straightforward, barrier-free principle: children speak their ideas aloud, and the device generates an instant black-and-white illustration ready for printing. By eliminating the need to type prompts or master complex drawing software, the device empowers younger children to bring their thoughts to life directly.

A child can simply say, “an octopus wearing a sailor’s hat”, and the device processes the audio prompt via Voice-to-Image technology. The resulting artwork is previewed on the built-in 2.8-inch HD colour display before automatically printing onto adhesive paper in about 30 seconds.

Once printed, the artwork transitions from the digital sphere into the physical world. Kids can colour the illustrations using markers, add hand-drawn details, write stories, and peel off the backing to decorate scrapbooks, personal journals, greeting cards, or school supplies.

For young storytellers wanting to build broader narratives, the device features a Voice-to-Story function. Instead of a single snapshot, the system translates an overarching concept into a four-scene illustrated adventure, teaching narrative structure through printable sequential storyboards.

“AI can provide a starting point, but we want children to decide what happens next,” said G-Jay Yong, founder and CEO of myFirst. “A printed picture gives them something they can change, colour and make their own. Our approach is to give families a way to explore new technology together, with children bringing the ideas and parents taking part in the experience.”

Child-First Safety and Multilingual Accessibility

Under the hood, the Insta magiBox leverages leading generative AI engines, combining models such as Google Gemini and OpenAI. However, recognizing the vulnerabilities of open-ended generative platforms, the myFirst engineering team implemented dedicated, multi-layer safety filters built specifically for young audiences.

Before any illustration is created, the system evaluates the spoken prompt against strict content guidelines. If an inappropriate or unsafe idea is detected, the device safely blocks generation, displaying a friendly prompt on-screen: “Oops! Try another idea”—encouraging the child to reframe their imagination positively without harsh reprimands.

To ensure global and multicultural inclusivity, the voice recognition system supports 26 languages and language variants. Children can comfortably describe their creations in their native tongues, including English, Mandarin, Malay, Hindi, Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, and Filipino, without the friction of translating concepts into English first.

Hardware and Practical Features

Built to withstand everyday play, the Insta magiBox incorporates thoughtful hardware specifications and parent-friendly controls:

  • Artistic Flexibility: Kids can toggle between six distinct artistic filters, transforming the visual style of their prompts from bold cartoon lines to detailed outlines.
  • Independent Wi-Fi Functionality: After initial configuration via the companion myFirst Circle app, the printer connects directly to Wi-Fi, allowing children to create independently without needing an active smartphone in the room.
  • Parental App & History: Parents can monitor creations remotely via the myFirst Circle app, with the ability to review past prompts, save digital copies, and reprint favourite designs on demand.
  • Safe, Chemical-Free Materials: The thermal sticker paper rolls are certified BPA-free and BPS-free, ensuring safety during extended handling. Each roll yields approximately 50 printed stickers.
  • Long-Lasting Battery: Designed for portability, the internal battery provides up to 120 Voice-to-Image prints on a single full charge.
