This August, Magpie Singapore unveils two new experiences that celebrate its borderless approach to hospitality. On 12 August, the Tiong Bahru restaurant launches its first-ever cocktail programme, led by Head of Operations & Beverage Trisha “Taco” Leong.
To mark the launch, Magpie will also introduce its Mystery Token promotion. A total of 150 limited-edition Mystery Tokens will make their way into circulation, with each token redeemable for any two cocktails from the new menu for S$40++ (usual value: S$52++).
The celebrations continue on 13 August with Gazza Cicheti: The Encore, a one-night-only collaborative dinner that reunites Chef-owner Eliot Thomas and Casa Cicheti’s Yen Nee following the success of their sold-out collaboration earlier this year.
With the launch of its first dedicated cocktail programme, Magpie adds a vibrant new dimension to Tiong Bahru’s after-dark dining scene, inviting guests to linger over drinks long after dinner service.
Launching 12 August: A Borderless Cocktail Programme
For the first time, Magpie’s signature borderless philosophy extends beyond the kitchen and behind the bar.
Led by Trisha “Taco” Leong, whose career spans acclaimed bars including 28 HongKong Street, Sago House and Night Hawk, the programme has been designed to complement Magpie’s ever-changing menu while standing confidently on its own. Known for her playful approach to flavour and savoury cocktails, Leong brings more than a decade of experience from venues recognised by both Asia’s 50 Best Bars and World’s 50 Best Bars.
Building drinks around familiar classics, each cocktail also begins with a story, memory or feeling. The result is a menu that is playful, unexpected and deeply rooted in flavour, reflecting the same borderless philosophy that defines Magpie’s kitchen.
Priced at S$26, signature serves include the Dirty Bird, a savoury combination of chicken fat-washed gin, herb vermouth, pickled brine and celery; the bright and tropical Magpie Daiquiri, featuring rhum agricole, passionfruit and lime with touches of herbaceous notes from an equatorial aperitif, Arveau; and Hush Money, a rich blend of miso brown butter, whiskey, dark rum, hazelnut, sherry and burnt sugar.
“Magpie has never been about colouring inside the lines, so the cocktail programme shouldn’t be either,” says Trisha “Taco” Leong, Head of Operations & Beverage at Magpie. “Every drink starts with a story, and flavour always comes first. I hope people discover something they wouldn’t normally order and leave with a new favourite.”
13 August: Gazza Cicheti Returns for One Night
‘Gazza’ – the Italian word for ‘magpie’ – reunites Magpie and Casa Cicheti for the return of their much-loved collaborative dinner, celebrating two neighbourhood restaurants brought together by a shared love of generous food, thoughtful hospitality and cooking without borders.
Celebrating the shared spirit of two independent neighbourhood restaurants, the one-night-only dinner brings together Casa Cicheti’s Italian soul with Magpie’s playful, borderless cooking for an evening of generous food, thoughtful drinks and convivial hospitality.
Guests will begin with antipasti including ‘Nduja Kebab with Lime Crema, Stracciatella with Marinated Tomato, and Mizuna with Sicilian Green Olives and Cacio e Pepe Dressing, before moving into mains such as Bucatini with Tomato Ricotta and Guanciale, Snapper with Kelp Jus, and Duck Ragù Tandoor Bread Pizza. Dessert is Crostata Frangipane with Apricot and Coconut Kaffir Lime Gelato.
Priced at S$98++ per guest, Gazza Cicheti: The Encore begins at 6.00pm on Thursday, 13 August at Magpie. Seats are limited, with reservations now open via www.sevenrooms.com/experiences/magpie.
“The first Gazza Cicheti dinner felt less like a collaboration and more like inviting friends into the kitchen,” says Chef-owner Eliot Thomas. “Bringing it back, and hosting it at Magpie this time, gives us the chance to share that same energy in our own space. We can’t wait to welcome everyone in for another evening of great food, great drinks and good company.”
