AEROTEL SINGAPORE REVIEW– CHANGI AIRPORT TERMINAL 1 TRANSIT HOTEL

Aerotel is a novel transit-friendly hospitality concept. Designed by travellers for travellers, Aerotel are always located at the airport, be it airside or landside, providing comfort and convenience to travellers with long transit duration or flights at wee hours.

The Aerotel Singapore, located in Changi Airport’s Terminal 1, debuted a few years back as a one-of-a-kind transit hotel. Boasting facilities such as an outdoor swimming pool and a mini gym within Changi Airport, the development could be used as a leisure zone while waiting out for a flight. We recently checked out the Aerotel Singapore for this review.

Reception at Aerotel Singapore

Aerotel Singapore is located at the 3rd level of the transit area of Changi Airport Terminal 1, above Gate D41. An escalator takes you up to the reception area. The hotel has three types of rooms – Solo, Double Plus and Family Suite. The Solo room is a single room (with shared bathroom), Double Plus is a twin room (with bathroom). The standard stay duration in Aerotel Singapore is 6 hours or multiple of 6 hours.

Depending on which side of the building your room is, the room could either be slightly smaller and have faux windows or slightly bigger with real windows that look out to the runway. If you choose the room looking out to the runway,  you will see the plane parked right outside your windows.

The Double Plus room came with twin beds. Very spacious and comfortable, comparable to many hotels in Singapore. They installed plenty of power points and USB charging ports which travelers looked for. The smart TV offers several international channels.

Complimentary tea and coffee in Aerotel Singapore

I was pleasantly surprised with the type of amenities that were readily available. Slippers, for instance, were found by the drawers while a water kettle allows guests to prepare piping hot cups of tea from the comfort of their own room. The bed is super comfortable.

Bathroom amenities at Aerotel Singapore

The bathroom came equipped with a rain shower which was a nice touch. The hot water is working perfectly and water pressure is strong. In case you forget to bring any toiletries with you, fret not. You will find dental kits and even a simple vanity kit within the bathroom. 2 in 1 Shampoo and shower gel available.

The Library Lounge at Aerotel Singapore

If you stay at the Aerotel Singapore, you can access the Library Lounge located behind reception. Guests can come here to unwind and watch television, read some books or look out to the runway. The decor here is very modern. Guests could also dine here for the complimentary meal that is included in the room.

A staircase leads to a modest gym. Separated from a glass door, the outdoor swimming pool is also visible from here.

The Outdoor Swimming Pool at Aerotel Singapore

The swimming pool is available for blocks of 3 hours usage, payment at the reception desk. I was told many transit guests spend a few hours by the pool before they board the night flight back to Europe. There is a bar counter selling snacks and drinks. When I visited the place, it was very crowded.

Breakfast at Aerotel Singapore

When booking a stay at the Aerotel Singapore, you can also choose one meal during your stay. It could be breakfast, lunch or dinner depending on your preference. During my stay, I opted to have breakfast and this was served ala carte in the Library Lounge.

The Aerotel Singapore is a compelling option for transit passengers who have a long layover in Changi Airport. Its facilities and comfortable rooms make it a decent alternative to staying outside.

Important

AEROTEL SINGAPORE is located within the transit (airport restricted) area at Changi Airport Terminal 1, near boarding gate D41. If you are transiting, please do not leave the transit area or clear arrival immigration when you arrive into Singapore, as re-entry into the transit area after clearing immigration/ customs is not permitted without an onward boarding pass issued by your airline. Transit passengers would not have access to their check-in luggage. We recommend that you contact your airline to clarify transit boarding pass issuance and baggage handling arrangements to ensure you are able to access AEROTEL SINGAPORE, especially if you are transferring to/ from Terminal 4.
