Ganglamedo is a vegetarian restaurant serving Tibetan inspired cuisine. Ganglamedo means “Snow Flower” in Tibetan. Stepping into Ganglamedo, you feel like you are entering an oasis of calm. The soothing spa music playing in the background and the energy crystals undoubtedly make you feel energized in this three-story shop house near Tanjong Pagar Business District. The Tibetan inspired decor and welcoming tones of gold and amber exude a quiet luxury.

Seating an intimate 44, there are vibrantly coloured blinds that offer booth-like privacy to dining parties, and there’s also the option of a cosy private dining room for eight on the third floor. The vegetarian food served at Ganglamedo does not try to imitate the taste of meat but rather harnesses the natural flavours that exist in the organic ingredients.

Benefits of Cordyceps

Cordyceps are thought to increase the body’s production of the molecule adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is essential for delivering energy to the muscles. This may improve the way your body uses oxygen, especially during exercise. The elderly have traditionally used Cordyceps to reduce fatigue and boost strength and sex drive. Researchers believe their antioxidant content may explain their anti-aging potential. Cordyceps’ potential to slow the growth of tumors has generated significant interest in recent years. Cordyceps contain a special type of sugar that may help treat diabetes. Cordyceps are approved in China for the treatment of arrhythmia, a condition in which the heartbeat is too slow, too fast or irregular. Cordyceps is said to help fight inflammation in the body.

At Ganglamedo, you can order the Naqu Cordyceps Double-Boiled Soup with Premium Whole Cordyceps, Black Truffle, Matsutake and Bamboo Fungus at S$68++ . But you have to order it one day in advance.

It is hard to believe the Naqu Cordyceps Double-Boiled Soup ($68) does not have a meat stock. I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of flavour present. With black truffle, matsutake mushrooms and bamboo fungus, this nourishing soup is one of my favourites from the menu.
