MYO Restobar | Where Tradition Meets Modernity

IMG_0137

Myo Restobar is a new restaurant by the owner of Kia Hiang Restaurant, which has been operating at International Plaza since 1975. A play on the Chinese words, 妙嚥 miào yàn which means “to swallow wonder”, Myo features all the classic home-style Cantonese dishes from the well-loved International Plaza outlet and delicious dim sum from their previous Kim Tian branch.  A harmonious marriage between Chef Cheng Chee Wai on the wok station and Chef Billy Wong on the dim sum station.

You can tell if the restaurant is serving authentic Cantonese dishes by trying the dim sum first. They say the simplest dish is also the hardest to perfect. In this case MYO does not disappoint. The dim sum is freshly made, ingredients are top quality. You will be able to taste the freshness of the meat and prawn. Crunchy with every bite.

Chicken or Egg First?

Interesting name for a dish, this is actually deep fried dim sum with savoury fillings. The egg on the other hand is sweet custard. So both balance each other, a perfect combination.

Treasures of the Sea Soup
Double Boiled Soup of Fish Maw, Sea Cucumber, Fragrant Mushroom,
Deer Tendon, Conpoy & Chicken

This is our favorite dish, the soup made from top quality ingredients, double boiled to perfection. So comforting to drink this before the meal. You can almost feel your body absorbing the nutrients immediately.

Scallion Oil Noodle with XO Sauce

Simple dish, but amazingly good, light oil noodle goes very well with the accompanied XO sauce.

Myo Claypot Organic Chicken (1.1kg)
The Kia Hiang Claypot Organic Chicken ($28) – a juicy moist chicken, enveloped in sweet cabbage, bathed in syrupy herbal broth. This dish is comforting when eaten hot and with a bowl of rice. The chicken is very tender and fall-off-the-bone. This is another of our favorite dish which we highly recommend.

Crispy Soft Shell Crab in Butter Salted Egg Yolk Sauce.

The salted egg yolk sauce is not overpowering and goes well with the soft shell crab.

Guifei Beancurd with Shimeji Mushroom.

This beancurd is very soft and smooth, before you know it, it slide down from your mouth to your belly. I feel one piece per person is not enough, so order more if you like it.

Osmanthus & Mango Jelly (3pcs)

Osmanthus is a well known herb that can improve skin, detoxify the body, reduce thick saliva in the throat and boost lung health. In practice, osmanthus tea is often consumed when one suffers from a dry skin or hoarseness.

A lot of effort in making this dessert. Layer by layer the jelly is stack on top of one another.  The is best served cold. This dessert is not too sweet, and perfect for the health conscious.
