Huawei P60 Pro review: A mobile photography powerhouse
The Huawei P60 Pro is the latest flagship phone from the Chinese tech giant, and it aims to impress with its innovative camera features and premium design.
The P60 Pro has a sleek and elegant design, with a curved glass body and a metal frame. The 6.67-inch LTPO OLED display is stunning, with a high resolution, an adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz, and HDR10+ support. The screen also has an in-display fingerprint sensor and a small punch-hole for the selfie camera. The HUAWEI X-True Display provides accurate colours and true-to-life details in bright and dark areas. Supporting P3 wide colour gamut, it has gained TÜV Rheinland Colour Accuracy Dual Certification (Colour Accuracy & Precise Colour Projection).
The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G processor, which is one of the most powerful chipsets on the market, although not the latest one. The phone comes with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.
The battery life is excellent, thanks to the 4,815 mAh battery that supports 88 W wired and 50 W wireless fast charging. The phone can also reverse charge other devices wirelessly. The phone is IP68 water and dust resistant. The phone’s Kunlun Glass receives the five-star glass drop-resistance certification from Switzerland’s SGS. The overall drop resistance is boosted 10 times. And IP68-rated splash, water, and dust resistance give you extra protection against daily mishaps.
The main attraction of the P60 Pro is its camera system, which consists of three rear cameras and one front camera. The main camera is a 48 MP ultra lighting sensor with a variable aperture of F1.4-F4.0 and optical image stabilization (OIS). This camera can capture amazing photos in any lighting condition, with natural colours, high dynamic range, and low noise. The variable aperture also allows for more creative control over the depth of field and bokeh effects. The Ultra Lighting Main Camera, boasting an F1.4–F4.0 auto-adjustable physical aperture, helps produce marvellous images day and night with its unprecedented full-path light capturing capabilities. XMAGE styles reproduce colours with distinctive styles that look simply outstanding.
Go the distance under the cover of darkness, with a cutting-edge Ultra Lighting Telephoto Camera loaded with Multiple Lens Groups and an F2.1 large aperture that takes in 178% more light to bring out rich details. Just one tap lets you zoom in on tiny, dimly-lit scenes, and makes your masterpieces steadily sharp, free from unwanted blurriness.
The ultrawide camera is a 13 MP sensor with autofocus and an F2.2 aperture. It has a 120-degree field of view and can capture distortion-free images with good detail and colour accuracy. The ultrawide camera can also record 4K videos at 30 fps.
The selfie camera is a 13 MP sensor with an F2.4 aperture and an 18 mm wide-angle lens. It can take sharp and flattering selfies with good skin tones and exposure. It can also record 4K videos at 60 fps.
The P60 Pro has a lot of camera modes and features to enhance your photography experiences, such as night mode, portrait mode, pro mode, dual-view video, light painting, time-lapse, slow motion, AR stickers, and more.
The P60 Pro runs on EMUI 13.1, which is based on Android 12 core but does not have Google services or apps. Instead, it has Huawei’s own services and app store, which offer some alternatives but not all. You can also use third-party solutions like Gbox to install Google apps without breaking any rules.
The P60 Pro is a fantastic phone for photography enthusiasts who want to capture stunning images and videos with their smartphone. It has a premium design, a gorgeous display, a powerful performance, a long-lasting battery, and a versatile camera system that sets it apart from the competition.
