Kyoto in Autumn Weekend Afternoon Tea

Drawing on her personal memories of places, flavours and textures, Chef Reiko finds inspiration from life’s kaleidoscope – from her childhood in the American wilderness to the joie de vivre she found in Paris, to the culinary heritage of her hometown in Japan.

Specially crafted chinaware in earthy tones inspired by traditional bento boxes reveals petite poetry of sweet and savoury delights.

The box of delights presents “Kuri Kinton” Candied Chestnut, Yuzu White Chocolate Bonbon, Matcha Moss Sphere, Sweet Soy and Ginger Mousse, Japanese Strawberry Mochi, and Hōjicha Tea and Apricot Cookie sandwich.

Freshly Baked Scones
Accompanying this seasonal afternoon tea experience are specially created Ginger Confit and Matcha White Chocolate scones, made with coconut oil instead of butter, served warm with Clotted Cream, Yuzu Posset and housemade Cherry Jam.

Kyoto in Autumn Weekend Afternoon Tea_Cocktails

Raise a toast to the weekend with a 日本-inspired trinity of craft cocktails by Bar Manager Gabriel Carlos and Head Bartender Sophia Kang.

A beauty to behold as well as imbibe, Kabata Sour is refreshingly tart and smooth with Sake Central Yuzushu yet balanced with Nikka Coffey Vodka; rum-based Nishiki is a basket of fruit with strawberry and peach enlivened with soda, and gin-forward Bloody Tsukemono is a playful rendition celebrating the Japanese tradition of pickling, incorporating Japanese Pickled Tomato, Ki No Bi Kyoto Dry Gin, Bloody Mary Spices, Ambarella and topped with Champagne.

Specially handpicked for this season are floral and herbacious teas Sakura Flower, Osmanthus Sencha and Shiso Mint, and roasted green teas Hojicha and Genmaicha all of which beautifully complement and make for a delightful afternoon tea experience.

11 October 2022 | Tuesday | 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM | Crane Joo Chiat: A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT

Strange things are afoot in Bad City. The Iranian ghost town, home of prostitutes, junkies, pimps and other sordid souls, is a place that reeks of death and hopelessness, where a lonely vampire is stalking the town’s most unsavoury inhabitants. But when boy meets girl, an unusual love story begins to blossom… blood red.

“Ana Lily Amirpour’s cool, comic film, in which a young female vampire roams the night-time streets, opens a new vein of undead horror.” – Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

There, he is frequently visited by his best friend, Belly Button, a recyclables collector, and together they endure the dull nightshift by watching television – until it gets broken one night. Hoping to find some drama, they stumble upon Kevin’s dashboard camera, where they find footage which contains their boss’ ugly secrets that will change their lives forever.

“This ballad of sad losers mixed with satire on parochial politics is convulsively funny yet uncompromisingly bleak, bridging art with entertainment.” – Maggie Lee, Variety

The film explores the disturbing legacy of the Marcos regime and chronicles Imedela’s present-day push to help her son, Bongbong, win the vice-presidency. To this end, Imelda confidently rewrites her family’s history of corruption, replacing it with a narrative of a matriarch’s extravagant love for her country. In an age where fake news manipulates elections, Imelda’s comeback story serves as a dark fairy tale.

“Lauren Greenfield proves the perfect person to infiltrate Imelda Marcos’ psyche, revealing the former Filipino first lady’s delusions of grandeur to the broader world.”  – Peter Debruge, Variety

Starting from 5 September onwards, Nando’s will be taking its bottomless deal to the next level with free-flow chips or rice on top of their usual free-flow drinks, sauces and frozen yogurt alongside their flame-grilled chicken – no questions asked!

“At Nando’s, it’s the people that make the chicken – our staff, our partners, our fans. So we thought, how else can we make their dining experience even more memorable than before? We decided to treat our fans to bottomless chips and rice, a testament to how we’re always thinking of new ways to give them a wonderful dining experience. Whether you’re feeling mild or wild that day, who can say no to value-for-money deals?” said Mac Chung Lynn, Group CEO of Nando’s Singapore.

UP-ing the HEAT stakes

Known for their Afro-Portuguese flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken, Nando’s offers varying degrees of heat across five unique PERi-PERi flavours – Extra Hot, Hot, Mild, Lemon & Herb and Plain…ish. With a burning passion for delivering only the best flavours to every customer, Nando’s has introduced their limited-time offering Vusa XXHot  flavour – taking the top spot on their iconic PERi-ometer scale.

For anyone up for the challenge, the new Vusa XXHot, available while stocks lasts, is the fiercest PERi-PERi flavour yet. Packed with fire and excitement, and an age-old recipe of African Bird’s Eye Chilli, lemon and garlic. Imagine African spirit, intense heat and a dark, fiery red sauce with chilli seeds coating the chicken – measuring approximately 175,000 Scoville heat units for a guaranteed oomph!

BOTTOMS UP! All day, everyday

The crowd-favourite bottomless add-on at Nando’s with free-flow drinks, frozen yogurt, and PERi-PERi sauces just got spicier! Fans of Nando’s have always been able to top up just S$4.20 or S$4.80 for free-flow drinks or frozen yogurt respectively, but now, for a limited time only, diners can enjoy a 1/4 chicken with bottomless drink and bottomless chips or rice at only S$17.90. For those seeking a sweet ending to their meal, just top up another S$2 to enjoy free-flow frozen yogurt.

Besides the mainstay items on the menu, diners can also choose from a wide variety from small plates to sharing platters to Nando’s ever-popular wings, burgers, pitas, wraps and their no-frills side-kicks to complete your meal. Alternatively, sink into Nando’s locally-inspired bowls crafted in collaboration with Chef Shen Tan, for exclusive flavours such as the PERi-Laksa noodles, and build your own bowl from over 1,792 combinations.

Ensuring that every diner gets a  bang for their buck, Nando’s offers student meals inclusive of bottomless drinks priced as low as S$11 – Making PERi-PERi chicken affordable for students of all ages.

In Hot Pursuit Towards Quality & Sustainability
Committed to quality at every step, Nando’s serves up only the freshest A-grade chickens using healthier cooking methods without compromising on flavour. The flame-grilled method is tedious, yet key to Nando’s delicious chicken, and simply shows their commitment to transparency as diners can be sure their meals are freshly made with no added MSG or additives and made with 100% natural ingredients. The chickens are marinated for at least 24 hours in a special PERi-PERi marinade, so the flavour goes right to the bone. Each Nando’s restaurant which is intimately referred to as ‘casa’, has an open kitchen where customers can excite their taste buds with the visual pleasure of watching each piece of chicken meticulously grilled to perfection by Nando’s master grillers.

In addition to the strict standards they pride themselves on, Nando’s also grows their own African Bird’s Eye Chilli straight from the source in Southern Africa. These chillies are essentially what Nando’s signature PERi-PERi sauces are made of – it has a citrus note with a tease of heat and hint of earthiness, which is then blended with fresh lemon, garlic, onion, oil and herbs.

To pledge their commitment and empower small-scale Southern African farmers, Nando’s saw the opportunity to give them an additional income source at the same time providing customers with the most authentic and delicious flavours. The chillies are grown on farms with nutrient-rich soil, spanning 494 acres and are handpicked and dried naturally under the Southern African sun, which are then bought at a pre-agreed, fair trade price.
