thematic Afternoon Tea journey settles in the Land of the Rising Sun

The Grand Lobby’s gastronomic journey begins anew as the thematic Afternoon Tea experience departs wintry Moscow to arrive amidst the splendour of Japan’s springtime bloom. Bask in the new Sakura Afternoon Tea and Kyoto Afternoon Tea experiences with their inspired seasonal delights and specially crafted cocktails from 15 March to 11 April 2021 and 12 April to 30 May 2021 respectively, before the voyage adjourns to another exciting city of the world.

Guests are invited to indulge in a sensational selection of classic Japanese treats, home-baked scones, and unique creations by Executive Pastry Chef Tai Chien Lin amidst the grandeur of The Grand Lobby. Inspired by the alluring beauty of cherry blossoms coming into full bloom, the Sakura Afternoon Tea features an exquisite array of luscious Sakura Panna Cotta, crisp Sakura Ice Cream Monaka, and decadent Sakura Strawberry Éclair, in beautiful shades of pink reminiscent of the Sakura’s elegant impermanence. For the Kyoto Afternoon Tea experience, guests will be treated to an equally sumptuous selection of Chestnut Tartlet, Hojicha Tiramisu, and Yuzu Éclair, amongst other delicacies inspired by the cultural city.

Rounding out the culinary sojourn, both thematic Afternoon Tea experiences will delight guests with a lavish spread of delectable Beef Sando Katsu Bechamel, Japanese Omelette with Ikura, and more, each mouthful a rich harmony of flavours and textures, perfectly paired with a choice of Mariage Frères premium tea or the Raffles custom-blended coffee.

To heighten the Sakura Afternoon Tea and Kyoto Afternoon Tea experience, guests can also choose from a curated selection of handcrafted cocktails, including Waka Jūsu ($25++), a tart and fruity concoction made with Champagne, Yuzu, Sangue Morlacco; ZakuroMirukuhaibōru ($20++), a unique blend of Malt Whiskey, Pomegranate, Apple, Orange, Sencha, Milk and Lemon; and Hanafubuki ($25++), a potent elixir of Gin, Vermouth, Sake, Cherry Blossom and Umeboshi.

The Sakura Afternoon Tea and Kyoto Afternoon Tea experiences are each priced at S$88++ per guest and are offered alongside the signature Classic Afternoon Tea. These charming thematic experiences are part of The Grand Lobby’s new afternoon tea offering, where guests are taken on an evocative journey to revel in the unique culinary flavours of selected distinctive cities around the world.
