After the hand-painted “Frigoriferi d’Arte” and the small appliance collections “Sicily is my Love” and “Divina Cucina”, Smeg and Dolce&Gabbana are collaborating once again on a lifestyle project inspired by the traditional Sicilian cart.
Unexpected pairings – a toaster and a sandal, a coffee maker and the “Sicily” bag, the “Divina Cucina” and a sneaker, a necklace and a blender – tell the story of the ingenuity and manual skill that lie behind their conception and creation, making them treasures of Italian culture. These original combinations encompass history and beauty, artisanal tradition and love of hand craftsmanship, becoming icons of an authentic and contemporary lifestyle that is synonymous with a new experience of luxury.
Just as behind every garment are hidden the secrets of an ancient craft that creates uniqueness with expert hands, so does every appliance have its own story of industrial excellence and know-how, a tireless passion for the art of cooking, and meticulous attention to every detail.
Design and fashion come together in a “Made in Italy” project dedicated to the fascinating iconography of the Sicilian cart: an unexpected and incredibly imaginative design that continues to fuel new stimuli and interactions between the two worlds.
On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile in Milan 2019, the exhibition Artistic&Traditional will be open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday, 10-14 April, from 4 pm to 9 pm, at Metropol in Viale Piave 24.
