Birdy’s is a newly-opened neighbourhood kitchen and bar at 215F Upper Thomson, which serves up breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee, wines, craft beers and everything in between.
Being an all-day dining concept, Birdy’s have a Western influence with its decor, with the use of wood elements and brown cushioned seats in its interior with white walls. The dining space is divided into two sections, one on the ground level of the shophouse space, while the other upstairs on a split-level after the espresso bar.
As it is near Christmas season, they are offering attractive Christmas Special from 7 Dec.
POTATO, BACON AND CHESTNUT SALAD
Simple yet delicious salad with crispy bacon, chestnut and potato to give you the Christmas feel.
ROASTED CORN-FED CHICKEN
Brussel sprouts, crispy polenta and chicken gravy.
The corn-fed chicken is soft and tender while the polenta is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken is quite big size and even if its only half a chicken, its quite a large portion.
MULLED WINE POACHED PEAR
Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, hidden under the slices of poached pear.
Overall the Christmas menu does have a seasonal feel to it with the chestnut salad, chicken (symbolizing turkey) and the mulled-wine poached pear. We do recommend you try this menu before it is taken out after the holidays.
Patrons who wish to dine al-fresco can go for the outdoor tables located at the platform outside the shop. Serving up two different menus, “Day” and “Night”; the former being only available from opening till 4pm, while the latter is only available from 4pm till closing, though some items are featured in both menus.
Beverages include a vast range of wine and alcoholic options, though also include specialty coffee, tea, quenchers, and smoothies.
If you prefer to try the night menu, we recommend the TRUFFLE PARMESAN FRIES, BEEF RIBEYE and CHOCOLATE CAKE & VANILLA ICE CREAM.
TRUFFLE PARMESAN FRIES
They are very generous with the parmesan cheese and truffle oil, creating an attractive snack.
BEEF RIBEYE, 300gm Jack’s Creek grass fed ribeye, wild mushroom fricassee, wholegrain mustard.
This ribeye is significant portion, 300 gm, and the kitchen slice it for your convenience.
CHOCOLATE CAKE & VANILLA ICE CREAM
This dessert is available even if you come here for coffee during the day.
Prosecco, Aperol, soda, orange slice
Since its the festive season, naturally you can order one of their cocktail to go with your meal. For example the Aperol Spritz is popular here, very refreshing.
Whisky, Angostura bitter, orange
The classic cocktail here are quite good too, for example this Old fashioned whisky.
We liked how the menu is sized just about right, having an item for everyone, while the offerings do carry a respectable grade of quality with an emphasis on letting their ingredients shine in terms of flavour; not overly seasoned nor flavoured, all with pretty plating without having being all pretentious and over-the-top.
Essentially a quality place that puts an emphasis on food, focusing on quality and wholesome offerings, Birdy’s is a place we felt that we would revisit again.
