The team behind Neon Pigeon, Fat Prince and The Ottoman Room brings you beachside vibes with a Mediterranean soul at Summerlong, their new venture which opened May, 16 2017 at The Quayside at Robertson Quay.

Food – Fresh and Satisfying
The open kitchen, helmed by Chef Justin Hammond (of Neon Pigeon), serves up a mix of
Snacks, Dips, and Shared dishes to nibble on, which are perfect for enjoying with family and friends. On the weekends, Summerlong is the perfect venue for a relaxed brunch, welcoming families and friends, as well as those looking for a coffee or day-time cocktails. No summer experience would be complete without visiting the Soft Serve Ice Cream counter, where kids and adults alike can load up on the good stuff with a myriad of creative toppings ranging from chocolate to candy to fruit.

During our tasting session, we tried out the following:

Refreshing signature cocktail Summerlong Spritz to start the evening.


Chargrilled Octopus with parsnip, garlic and honey. The octopus was grilled lightly and the garlic and honey brought out the Mediterranean taste.


Next we had the Braised Lamb in Pastry, grilled apricots and spiced lentils. The crispy fried pastry kept the lamb moist inside and it was delicious.


The Smoked Pork Ribs, pomegranate glaze, dukkah crust, was probably the highlight of the evening. The meat was soft, tender and juicy.


I liked the River Trout too, in fresh peas, sage and goat feta.  Soft texture and moist, not too dry.


Next up Spiced Broccoli with tahini, hazenuts and seeds. The healthy choice.


Last dish was the Charred Eggplant, confit garlic, tomato, young basil. Although the skin was charred black but actually it was still soft and moist inside.


Dessert was Soft Serve Yogurt, Original , Chocolate or Mixed and choice of your favourite toppings like Berries, Oreos, Nuts, Marshmallows etc.




Overall the new “city beach” cafe and bar offers fresh and healthy food and drinks inspired by the Eastern Mediterranean. Designed by EDG Interior Architecture + Design, Summerlong embodies the bright and breezy, beachside style that is reminiscent of summer seaside vacations. The beautiful white-washed space, combined with the riverside location, make for relaxed days and nights, for couples and families alike. Unwind after work or the weekend with dinner and drinks as the sun sets over the river.
