Asador Singapore Spanish wood-fired restaurant in Joo Chiat

Asador, the quietly enduring Spanish wood-fired restaurant in Joo Chiat, returns to the spotlight with a renewed culinary fire – unveiling a refreshed seasonal menu and its most daring concept yet: ‘8 Perfect Strangers’, a communal dining experience that brings unfamiliar faces together over flames, food, and conversation.

Since opening in 2021, it has earned cult status among Spanish food lovers for its honest, fire-driven cooking and authentic soul.

THE EMBERS NEVER WENT OUT

The new menu is more than just a seasonal refresh, it’s a return to fire, flavour, and philosophy. Still rooted in traditional Spanish methods, Asador’s culinary team continues to dry-age premium cuts in-house, delivering deeply savoury, wood-fired meats that let natural flavours shine.

Few know that the restaurant’s centerpiece – its wood-fired oven – was custom-made and imported from Zamora, Spain, embodying Asador’s uncompromising commitment to authenticity.

Signature dishes remain, like the traditional Spanish Suckling Pig, carved tableside with a plate, and the house-made Basque-style cheesecake, wood-fired to a rich, smoky finish. New seasonal additions include:

  • Pollo ($42++) – roasted chicken with prunes, olives & shallots
  • Mejillones ($32++) – mussels in Nduja cream with cherry tomatoes
  • Wine pairings: Pere Ventura Tresor Gran Reserva Brut 2019 & Aragonia Selección Especial 2019 ($23++/glass each)

A NEW WAY TO DINE: ‘8 PERFECT STRANGERS’

Asador’s newest offering, ‘8 Perfect Strangers’, is set to disrupt how Singaporeans experience communal dining. Each month, eight solo diners come together for a set woodfire menu meant to share, strangers at the start, but not by the end.

In an age of curated feeds and digital distance, this bold return to real-life connection offers a refreshing twist. Think slow-roasted meats, regional Spanish specialties, fire-kissed dishes served family-style – all designed to spark laughter, stories, and new friendships.

“People know us for our fire — open flames, slow roasts, and that big Spanish heart,” says Chef Houssein, Head Chef-Owner of Asador. “With ‘8 Perfect Strangers’, we’re sharing that fire in a new way — turning tables into meeting points.”

The pre-pandemic days of dinner parties, social dining events and human connections are back. Through food, Asador seeks to foster new connections, surprising conversations, and the shared joy of breaking bread with someone unexpected. Priced at S$128++ for a single ticket to the experience, the menu includes wine pairing with each course served and curated for maximum enjoyment. To find a menu priced as such is a rarity in today’s scene but sticking to their ethos of quality only, the curated menu further reinforces it.

THE SECRET WITHIN: 60ML BAR

Tucked behind Asador lies 60ml, its moody, jazz,  speakeasy bar and best-kept secret. Here, cocktails are crafted with exactly 60ml of spirit, a nod to old-school precision and bold, unwatered-down flavour, hence its name.

Expect retro-jazz energy, elevated bar snacks, and signature drinks like the Reverse Espresso Martini ($22) – a cheeky twist on the classic and a perfect post-dinner digestif.

As Singapore’s cocktail scene evolves, 60ml is quickly becoming the name whispered among in-the-know drinkers.

Asador has always been about staying power, substance over sizzle. With a revitalised menu, bold new direction, and growing community, it’s not just surviving – it’s setting the standard for soulful, social dining in Singapore where you get a bang for your buck and quite frankly, your soul.

Asador is back. And the fire burns brighter than ever.
