Papi’s Tacos Opens Fourth Taqueria at Tyrwhitt Road, Expanding Its Bold Mexican Footprint in Singapore

The homegrown brand continues to grow under Chef Papi — bringing street-style Mexican soul to a fourth neighbourhood

Papi’s Tacos, the Singapore-born Mexican street food brand founded by Chef Jose Mauricio Espinoza Lara (Chef Papi), has opened its fourth outlet at 149 Tyrwhitt Road. With a spacious 1,600 sq ft floor plan and seating for 60 guests, the newest venue carries forward the brand’s signature mix of bold flavours, street-style comfort, and heartfelt hospitality – this time in the heart of Jalan Besar.

From its humble beginnings on Seah Street to lively locations in Tanjong Pagar and Joo Chiat, Papi’s Tacos has earned a cult following for doing Mexican food with soul. The Tyrwhitt Road restaurant builds on that legacy with a refreshed space, deeper programming, and a menu that celebrates both familiar favourites and brand-new exclusives.

Chef Papi’s personal journey — from a small town in Papalotla, Mexico, to years of cooking in New York City, and eventually planting roots in Singapore — mirrors the spirit of the brand: rooted, raw, and resilient. His story is one of hustle, family, and passion — and it’s what gives Papi’s Tacos its enduring personality.

The Tyrwhitt Road outlet continues to offer everything diners love about the brand — tacos, burritos, mezcal cocktails, and more — but also introduces a series of exclusive dishes available only at this location.

Exclusively Available at Papi’s Tyrwhitt Road:

These Jalan Besar exclusives include the indulgent Duck Confit Tostaditas, topped with mole salsa, orange, and ancho chile-infused white onion, and the deeply flavourful Braised Beef Tongue Tacos, served with pickled radish and salsa verde. These limited-location creations were developed especially for Tyrwhitt Road and reflect Chef Papi’s love of traditional Mexican cuts and bold, slow-cooked flavours.

Alongside these exclusives are a few of Chef Papi’s personal favourites now available at the new outlet — the Grilled Cactus & Broccolini Salad, layered with arugula, purple cabbage, heirloom tomatoes, jalapeños, Oaxaca and cotija cheese, finished with a zingy agave lime dressing; the comforting Tacos de Suadero, filled with house-smoked beef brisket and pickled onion; and the crowd-pleasing Tacos de Pescado, starring grilled marinated dory with purple cabbage and chipotle aioli wrapped in soft flour tortillas.

Set Lunch Menu from SGD24

For daytime diners, a new Set Lunch Menu is available from 12pm to 2:30pm. Set Lunch A features chips and pico, esquites, and your choice of tacos or quesadillas, while Set Lunch B swaps in a fresh salad or burrito. Prices start from $24.

There’s also a dedicated Kids’ Menu with options like the Kid’s Chicken Tacos, Corn & Cheese Quesadilla, and Cuatro Cheese Quesadilla — making Papi’s Jalan Besar one of the few taquerías in town catering thoughtfully to younger diners.

The Papi Pour List

And of course, no trip to Papi’s is complete without a drink in hand. A daily Happy Hour runs from 12pm to 7pm, offering $10++ pours across Frozen Lime Margaritas, house wines, spirits, and Singapore Lager draughts. At Tyrwhitt, fans will also find a deeper mezcal list and house cocktails, including the Passionfruit Mezcalita, made with coconut water, Chinola, and passionfruit-infused agave nectar, and the spicy-sweet Tammy Paloma, crafted with tamarind, grapefruit, habanero, and mezcal from La Travesía. Frozen Margarita fans can now choose from a rotating mix of flavours including Strawberry, Spicy Mango, Pineapple Habanero, Tamarindo, and Mango Passionfruit.

The Jalan Besar outlet is now open and taking reservations. The taquería’s playlist is loud, the tortillas are fresh, and the team is ready to welcome both regulars and first-timers alike — always with a drink in hand and a story to share.
