Qantas, Australia’s national carrier, continues to soar above expectations with its renowned lounges at Singapore’s Changi Airport, receiving accolades from Frequent Flyers around the world. The exceptional Singaporean service style and a delectable food and beverage offering have emerged as the cornerstones of the airline’s success in the global lounge network.

As the peak holiday period approaches, Qantas aims to further delight its customers passing through the Singapore lounges. Additional menu items and festive treats, including the signature Qantas Christmas cocktail and traditional Christmas fare, are set to grace the lounges, ensuring a warm and celebratory atmosphere for holiday travellers.

Qantas boasts a network of 51 lounges globally, and Singapore Changi Airport is home to two exceptional establishments – the Qantas Business Lounge (opened in 2013) and the Qantas First Lounge (inaugurated in December 2019). The airline’s commitment to enhancing the travel experience is evident in its recent announcement of a $100-million investment in its lounge program. This includes the development of a new First Lounge at London’s Heathrow Airport, benefiting customers on QF2 services from London to Singapore.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Qantas’ first international lounge in Sydney, Australia, the airline remains dedicated to providing a premium experience to its passengers. Catriona Larritt, Qantas Chief Customer Officer, highlighted the consistently positive feedback received about the Singapore lounges, with some Frequent Flyers choosing flights that operate via Singapore specifically to relish the lounge experience.

Singapore holds a strategic position in Qantas’ Asia operations, serving as a key hub, and the airline has witnessed robust demand for travel in its premium cabins. The Singapore First Lounge menu features classic dishes, including the signature salt and pepper squid and laksa with crayfish, reflecting the vibrancy of local cuisine.

Each year, the Qantas Singapore First Lounge serves over 24,000 plates of its signature prawn wontons with black vinegar and chilli, and pours more than 48,000 glasses of champagne, attesting to the popularity of these culinary delights.

The historical significance of Singapore in Qantas’ journey is profound, with the famed ‘Kangaroo Route’ launching in December 1947, connecting Sydney to London via Singapore. Over the years, Qantas has increased its operations, now offering over 40 return services from Singapore each week to various Australian destinations, including Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth. The flagship QF1/2 Kangaroo Route from Australia to London via Singapore, operated by a fleet of A380 aircraft, continues to be a symbol of the airline’s global reach.

As the airline evolves to meet the changing needs of travellers, Qantas remains committed to providing a seamless and luxurious experience for its passengers, especially at its acclaimed Singapore lounges, where the journey is as memorable as the destination.
