LOEWE presents a second  collection for Spring Summer  2018 with the legendary Ibiza boutique Paula’s, continuing the women’s and men’s Ready-To-Wear and accessories collaboration that fuses bohemian coastal dressing with Paula’s playful prints. Capturing the flamboyant spirit of the Balearic Islands, the LOEWE Paula’s Ibiza collection draws upon  an iconic archive of print designs chosen  by LOEWE creative director Jonathan Anderson, celebrating the heyday  of this iconic seaside destination store and its connection with the island’s vibrant creative scene.

Evolving the graphic use of texture and print, the Spring  Summer 2018 collection delights in the mix-and-match of retro  beach motifs with the ‘Plumetis’, ‘Flags’, ‘Mermaids’, ‘Circus’, and ‘Birds’ prints featuring a whimsical mix of polka dots, beach flags, mermaids, circus characters, and cartoon hummingbirds in vivid, multicoloured combinations. Multiple prints clash  in single garments, as tiered sun dresses, caftans, peasant blouses and patchwork denim meet fringed shorts, cotton pajama separates, and terry towel  ponchos or hoodies. Metallic sequins and wooden bead embellishments elevate humble textiles  with new elements of craft, whilst bucket hats, beach towels, pareos and silk scarves allow for all manner of artful layering on the go. Significantly expanded, the men’s collection includes bright  swimsuits and boardshorts, whilst the LOEWE signature fisherman pants return in black ‘flag’ printed cotton.

Key LOEWE leather goods styles are re-imagined in exclusive Paula’s prints and colourways, from the all-over patchwork printed ‘Puzzle’ bag  in soft grained calfskin to the mini ‘Elephant’ shoulder bag  swimming with mermaids. A novelty  are the totes  and pouches made in printed canvas while spacious basket bags  woven in raffia reference the SS18 Men’s collection. Footwear styles reprise the season’s prints and embellishments with flat slingbacks, espadrilles, and platform sandals crafted in printed canvas and calfskin. Monogram wooden ping-pong bats, resin ‘coral’ necklaces and underwater cartoon bag  charms in napa leather round out the collection’s novel appeal.

 

The second LOEWE Paula’s Ibiza collection is immortalized in a hardcover photo book designed by M/M Paris and printed in a limited edition  of 1,200 hand-numbered copies. Photographed by Gray Sorrenti in New Orleans, USA, the street-cast images transport the free-wheeling beach spirit of Ibiza to America’s deep south.
