Sanlorenzo, the Italian builder of custom-built motoryachts over 20 metres, and superyachts up to 70 metres in length, launched its largest vessel to date, the 52Steel.
The metal superyacht 52Steel belongs to the Superyacht line, represented by the 40 Alloy, 46Steel, 460EXP, 52Steel, 58Steel and 64Steel.
The yacht was purchased by four friends, with the main buyer a previous Sanlorenzo owner. He also owned several other large yachts, before eagerly returning to Sanlorenzo to acquire their largest yacht built to date.
The launching ceremony took place at Sanlorenzo’s imposing production site in La Spezia, in the Tuscany Region, featuring the biggest construction shed in the Mediterranean. This site is exclusively dedicated to the design and construction of superyachts in metal from 40 up to 80 meters in length.
The 52Steel is a five-deck superyacht with endless customisation possibilities. The external lines, drawn in collaboration with Mauro Michieli’s Officina Italiana Design, are a natural evolution of the Sanlorenzo superyacht range, and it perpetuates Sanlorenzo’s refined features, elegance and technical innovations. The 52Steel’s profile impresses with simple clean lines and two rows of extensive windows on the main and upper decks. The glass side deck bulwarks allow for cleaner lines and abundant natural light inside.
The superyacht’s interior design was also developed by Officina Italiana Design, with warm, smooth colours combining with white, beige, taupe and browns, resulting in an elegant, cosy and breezy feeling. A signature feature by Sanlorenzo, a floating staircase, is built from glass and white marble from the prestigious Carrara marble cave.
One of the technological highlights and challenges of the yacht is the ground-breaking aft section on the main deck, a solution introduced by the Technical Department of Sanlorenzo Superyacht division, that includes a large swimming pool on the main deck with a fully transparent floor that allows natural light to filter into the beach club below. The pool is also equipped with a Jacuzzi and counter-current swimming options. The stunning beach club below features two folding terraces, one on each side of the yacht, serving as platforms with direct access to the sea.
The same beach club area can be quickly transformed into a garage, with a controlled flooding system, for the storage of a tender up to 8 meters in length. This part of the boat also houses a fully equipped, customised gym for its owner.
The internal layout hosts a large owner’s apartment in the bow of the main deck. With 2 VIP and 3 guest cabins on the lower deck, it allows the owner to entertain friends and family. The 52Steel also has three spacious dining areas with dining tables for 12 guests, one on the main deck, one on the upper deck and one on the sundeck. The external living areas are featured on the main, upper and sun decks, and include bespoke outdoor furniture with sun loungers, seating and coffee tables by Paola Lenti.
The yacht’s total length is 52 metres with a 9.3 metre beam. Seven Sins can accommodate 12 guests and 9 crew, her maximum speed is 17 knots. When cruising at 11 knots, the yacht reaches 4000 nautical miles range (worthy of an Atlantic crossing).
At the moment, three further 52Steel yachts are under construction at the shipyard, in La Spezia.
