Chin Lee: A Culinary Heritage Celebrating 50 Years and the Year of the Dragon
In the heart of Singapore’s Teochew culinary landscape, Chin Lee stands tall as a venerable name, recently commemorating its 50th anniversary with a promise to usher in the Year of the Dragon with a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation straight from the Swatow region.
Chef Eric Chua’s Culinary Symphony:
Each dish on Chin Lee’s celebratory menu encapsulates the essence of authenticity, innovation, and unwavering quality. Chef Eric Chua, the second-generation owner, has been a driving force behind Chin Lee’s evolution over the past 25 years. With a deep respect for Teochew traditions, Chef Eric seamlessly fuses classic techniques such as steaming and handcrafting with inventive twists.
Lunar New Year Extravaganza:
No Lunar New Year celebration is complete without the customary Yusheng, and at Chin Lee, Chef Eric and his team offer both Teochew and Cantonese versions. The Teochew variant features a colorful array of fresh green leafy vegetables, shredded carrots, radish, and cucumber strips, allowing guests to choose between Limpet (玉鲍) and Abalone (鲍鱼) for their Yusheng.
Feast Fit for Families:
For family gatherings, Chin Lee presents menus for 5-6 persons (starting from $368++) and 8-10 persons (starting from $588++), providing a plethora of options to suit diverse needs.
Teochew Tradition on the Seventh Day:
On the seventh day of the Lunar New Year (正月初七,人日), Chin Lee proudly serves its version of the Seven Vegetables Dish (七样青), a cherished tradition among Teochews. This auspicious dish symbolizes good luck, featuring an array of vegetables and roast pork.
Artistry Beyond the Plate:
Beyond the kitchen, Chef Eric reveals his creative soul through an impressive collection of artworks in both Chin Lee restaurants. Acclaimed local artists like Lee Hock Moh, Koh Mun Hong, Tan Kian Por, Ling Yang Chang, and more contribute to the visual feast complementing the culinary delights.
Special Edition Red Packets:
In a unique collaboration, Chef Eric joins forces with Dr. Yew Tong Wei, a promising artist in Chinese calligraphy, painting, and seal carving, to create a special red packet design for restaurant guests. This special edition 红包 is available for dine-in and takeaway orders at Chin Lee.
