Turkish Airlines Adds 2,632 Additional Seats per Week for Passengers Flying the Singapore Route
Turkish Airlines, one of the world’s leading airlines, has announced a significant increase in flight frequency for the Singapore to Istanbul route in response to a remarkable uptick in demand. With expectations of around 40,000 tourists from Singapore visiting Türkiye in 2023, the airline is stepping up its services to accommodate the surge in interest. The additional flights will not only cater to the growing tourist demand but also strengthen the longstanding bond between Singapore and Turkish Airlines.
Starting from 12th August 2023, Turkish Airlines will add two extra weekly flights from Singapore’s Changi Airport. Following the initial phase, on 13th September 2023, two more weekly flights will be introduced, bringing the total number of weekly flights from Singapore to Istanbul to 14. This 40% increase in frequency will provide passengers with greater flexibility and convenience while travelling between the two vibrant cities.
The addition of these new flights will translate into an impressive 27.7% increase in available seats for passengers on the Singapore route. Turkish Airlines will now be able to offer a total of 9,492 seats per week, enabling more travellers to experience Türkiye’s unique blend of Asian and European cultures and its breathtaking beauty.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat, the Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, expressed his enthusiasm for the expanded services, citing the special significance of Singapore for the airline. He highlighted that Singapore was Turkish Airlines’ first destination in the Far East, dating back to 1986. Over the years, the relationship has strengthened, with various collaborations, including Singapore aid organizations’ assistance during an earthquake and a growing interest from Singapore tourists to visit Türkiye again. Prof. Dr. Bolat emphasized that as an airline serving the most number of countries worldwide, Turkish Airlines looks forward to better serving the Singapore market and beyond.
To mark the occasion, Prof. Dr. Bolat held a gala dinner event at Shangri-la Singapore, where he engaged with Singapore state officials, key stakeholders, tourist representatives, and the media. The event was part of Turkish Airlines’ global activities aimed at further promoting the airline’s brand recognition worldwide.
Türkiye, with its rich history, stunning landscapes, and warm hospitality, has emerged as one of the world’s leading travel destinations. In 2022, international visitors to the country spent more than $13 billion, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council. Despite the challenges of the global travel landscape, tourist interest in this captivating country that straddles Asia and Europe remains high.
As the official flag carrier of Türkiye, Turkish Airlines takes pride in its 90-year legacy of delivering exceptional customer service and providing passengers with a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience. The airline recently launched renewed authentic inflight menus, allowing guests flying via Singapore to savour traditional Turkish dishes even before they arrive in Istanbul. Additionally, passengers can opt for familiar Singapore dishes like chicken rice and fried noodles. With newer aircraft equipped with the latest products, Turkish Airlines is committed to offering a memorable journey to its valued customers.
The four additional flights from Singapore to Istanbul will be operated using the modern Airbus 350-900 aircraft, ensuring a comfortable and contemporary travel experience. Meanwhile, the current ten weekly flights will continue to be serviced by the Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which has been appreciated by passengers for its reliability and comfort.
Turkish Airlines’ decision to increase flight frequency and add over 2,600 additional seats per week reflects its commitment to meeting the growing demand and providing excellent service to its passengers. Whether it’s tourists exploring the wonders of Türkiye or business travellers seeking opportunities, these enhanced flight options will undoubtedly contribute to fostering closer ties between Singapore and Türkiye.
