Affordable Art Fair partners with the President’s Challenge for launch of Lion’s Pride Campaign and ‘The Healing Power of Art’

Giving back is always in style and the Affordable Art Fair has once again found an #arthappy way to do it. In a push to continue its support of local art therapy charities, the Affordable Art Fair will be supporting the President’s Challenge by hosting the launch of the ‘Lion’s Pride’ – Art From The Heart campaign at the upcoming Affordable Art Fair 16 to 18 November.

President’s Challenge is an annual initiative which supports various local charities by encouraging volunteering, fundraising, and social entrepreneurship. The Lion’s Pride campaign which uses the iconic Singapore Merlion as a symbol of hope, will help raise both awareness and funds for the charities that use art to help holistically within their community.

“The team at Lion’s Pride is excited to be launching our campaign in conjunction with the Affordable Art Fair. We truly believe in the emotional healing powers of art in the community, especially for supporting vulnerable lives. We will be inviting visitors to get involved with these art workshops, by painting a ‘Lion’s Pride ‘Art from the Heart’ Merlion statue, to understand more the therapeutic benefits of art, have fun, and to take ‘pride’ in helping those less fortunate.” says Diana Francis, Co Founder/Creative Director of Lion’s Pride.

Party goers at the Arty-Licious Evening on Friday 16 November, Affordable Art Fair’s highly anticipated night of fun, glamour, and charity, will be able to take part in the colour-by-sections mural wall installation, illustrating a 200-year timeline of Singapore’s history, and featuring the iconic Singapore skyline and Merlion in black and white, created by artist Diana Francis. Visitors will be invited to collaboratively decorate the wall as a symbolic gesture that ‘adding colour’ improves lives. In addition, mini Merlion sculptures are available with a donation of $20, to take part in the art workshops led by the artist, with a portion of the proceeds going to the supported charities of President’s Challenge.

The Arty-Licious Evening will also include a live painting demonstration and talk inspired by Greg Mallyon’s (Manyung Gallery) travel through Southeast Asia, an artist whose work explores the themes of aerial and topographical landscapes. Talks by an art therapist will also be hosted for those interested in learning more about the benefits of art therapy.

Calling All Kids!
The Amazing Art Shuttle is back to entertain and educate the younger crowd. Aiming to help children retain their uniqueness and creativity by exposing them to the fun and excitement of art. This year’s theme is the human body and participants can express themselves in the colours, shapes and textures found inside the body to create a mixed-media artwork.
