VERDICT : As its name suggests, the LG Gram series emphasizes lightweight and portability to a stronger degree than other competing Ultrabooks. The end result is a very light system that offers the familiar core basics of an Ultrabook without the extra weight to cater to frequent travelers.

If you want an amazingly light full-size laptop the LG gram 15 is a great choice, and is available in smaller and even lighter models too.

In order to save weight, LG eschews a solid metal build like many rivals. Instead, the gram 15 is made from a ‘nano carbon magnesium’ – an alloy that feels more like plastic than metal but is supposedly military-grade and passed seven different tests.

The reality is that the laptop is flexible, especially the lid, but this is the trade-off to have the lightweight result. Once again, the bezels around the screen are very small making the laptop look modern and sleek, but also feel like a smaller laptop than a usual 15in model.

Portability is a function of battery life as well as size and weight, and this LG gram has been designed to keep going with 60Wh battery providing up to 15.5hrs (based on 2014 Mobile Mark® configuration) of power, to hit deadlines and keep streaming long after others have quit.
