The Gunong Sayang Association, also known as Persatuan Gunong Sayang, is a Peranakan social club that has been instrumental in preserving the art form of dondang sayang, keronchong, pantons as well as Wayang Peranakan in its original language , the Baba patois. The Association aims to create an awareness of Peranakan culture through acting, singing and dancing, and is well known for its wayang Peranakan (Peranakan theatre).
This Father’s day, GSA has decided to do its small part for the community. In conjunction with THE PERANAKAN, GSA will be performing twice on 17th June 2017:
- 2.00pm at the Atrium of Claymore Connect, and
- 3.45 pm during the High Tea session at THE PERANAKAN.
Proceeds from the High Tea will be donated to Saturdays@Lengkok Bahru. It was a pet project of Mr Raymond Khoo who was spurred on to start Saturdays@Lengkok Bahru after he saw the poverty in that area. Every Saturday, he and his volunteers will distribute bread, fruits, organise lunches and conduct tuition classes for more than 100 families in the area.
Be a part of this worthy cause this year by celebrating Father’s day at The Peranakan and be entertained by the versatile singers from Gunong Sayang Association. With their repertoire of English songs from yesteryears, Dondang Sayang , keronchongs and joget numbers, it will definitely be a nostalgic moment for many.

Get to enjoy this Peranakan High Tea set in a gorgeous setting (www.theperanakan.com) while watching the show.
