Driving into the world of golf, Porsche today announced its partnership with the SMBC Singapore Open, as its Official Automotive Partner. This is the first year of a two-year partnership with the SMBC Singapore Open, which will take place from 17th to 20th January 2019 on The Serapong at Sentosa Golf Club.

In addition to the fleet of event cars, Porsche is showcasing its high-performance sports car that is perfect for purists and hobby racers – the 911 GT3 RS, adjacent to the 17th hole throughout the tournament. The Panamera will also be featured at Suites @ 18th, the exclusive hospitality pavilion for the SMBC Singapore Open, where Porsche guests have the opportunity of experiencing the game in a truly unique environment. The Porsche Cayenne will also be at the main entrance to welcome visitors, and further reinforce the collaboration between Porsche and SMBC Singapore Open.

As one of the world’s most successful sports cars manufacturers, Porsche is inextricably involved with sports sponsorship on a global level. Porsche’s commitment to professional golf extends from the Porsche European Open, staged for the first time in 2015, to the title sponsorship of the European Tour event in Germany. Porsche has also been involved in amateur golf since 1988 with the global Porsche Golf Cup; as well as the Porsche Generations Open, an innovative nine-hole format for amateurs from two generations.

Francis Lee, Managing Director of Stuttgart Auto said, “We are delighted to partner with SMBC Singapore Open for the next two years to bring golf fans one of the finest golf tournaments in the world. Many in the Porsche community are avid golfers and this partnership allows us to create a unique platform for our customers and fans to enjoy the sport. Moreover, the tournament also presents a great opportunity for us to showcase our new models.”

Patrick Feizal Joyce, Senior Vice President, Golf – Asia, Lagardѐre Sports said, “We are thrilled to welcome Porsche on board as our Official Automotive Partner for the first time. We are certain that our partnership will be a powerful one that will further the status of SMBC Singapore Open as a world-class tournament.”

Together with its dealer Stuttgart Auto, Porsche will be providing a fleet of 20 event cars. Players and officials will be chauffeured in the new Porsche Cayenne and Panamera.

Spain’s Sergio Garcia, the defending champion, American great Davis Love III, the World Golf Hall of Famer, Englishmen Paul Casey and Matthew Fitzpatrick, Japan’s Prince of golf Ryo Ishikawa, and the best players from the Asian and Japan Tours will compete in this year’s US$1 million tournament.

Henrik Dreier, General Manager – Singapore, Porsche Asia Pacific said, “We are very excited to embark on this journey with SMBC Singapore Open. Since the first Singapore Open in 1961, the golf tournament has grown to become a world-class event that attracts the world’s finest players. For Porsche, this partnership represents the common values that Porsche shares with the great game of golf, including courage and foresight.
